We are pleased to announce that we have been able to go into "extra innings:" the manager has called Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story in from the bullpen to take the pitcher's mound! A second screening of this film has been added for Thursday, November 11, at 7:00 pm at the Museum of Fine Arts. Tickets are available by clicking "Buy Tickets" below, or from the MFA (in-person or online).

The Sunday November 7 screening at the Coolidge Corner Theatre is sold out online and at the Coolidge Corner Theatre box office.

Rush Tickets for both films will be available beginning one hour before the screening.

Renowned sports writer Ira Berkow hits one out of the park with Jews and Baseball. Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, this documentary highlights the contributions of Jewish major leaguers to America’s favorite pastime, while exploring baseball’s special place in the hearts of American Jews.

After the game...Join Lexington-born director Peter Miller (The Internationale, from our 2001 Festival), JewishMajorLeaguers.org founder Marty Abramowitz, and others for a “hot stove league” roundtable. Michael Silverman, baseball writer, Boston Herald and on-air personality, Sports Xtra, Ch.7-NBC, moderates.

Ike Can't Catch A Break
Ike Davis is being treated for Valley Fever. He hasn't received an official diagnosis and the blood test results from a test administered 11 days ago aren't in yet, but the Mets are treating Davis as if he has Valley Fever.

This is the type of illness that can interfere with a season or even end a career, so this is actually pretty serious. Conor Jackson contracted Valley Fever a few years ago and had to miss most of the 2009 season. Hopefully, Ike has better luck than Jackson.

For more on this bummer of a story, here's the article from MLB.com.
